Professional Standards Institute (PSI) is a professional association dedicated to the establishment, development, and preservation of quality and high professional standards and ethics. Our specific focus is on "true" competency-based professional certifications.
Our history started in 1997 when professional certifications were originally offered by one of our sibling companies. That part of the organization was split off in 2001 to its current organization and name, "Professional Standards Institute". Originally, test-based certification programs were offered. We ended our test-based certification programs in 2018. After years of research and development, we reengineered our certification model to focus on real-world performance and measurable expertise--raising the bar for professional credentialing that delivers the value industry expects and demands. Our new programs are built around hands-on, role-based, vendor-neutral competency-based assessments that reflect actual workplace skills which are evaluated by Subject Matter Experts in the certification field. Constructive feedback on the assessments is provided rather than a computer-scored exam as a pass or fail.
Our certification standards are developed and administered by senior staff and the PSI Board of Certification. The Board of Certification is made up of Subject Matter Experts who are educated, certified, and have several years of experience in their field of expertise. We are committed to promoting high quality standards and not just turning out high numbers of certified individuals.
We stand by our certification programs. PSI is geared toward ensuring that our professional certifications deliver the value that industry expects and demands, giving our certification holders an advantage in the workforce.
PSI is Not an Educational Organization
We do not offer any education programs, courses, or training. In addition, we do not provide any academic credentials, such as degrees, diplomas, or certificates.
