- The Certified Professional Management Consultant is a skilled practitioner in management consulting tools and techniques used to collect, measure, map, and analyze project data, and interpret the results for a management consulting project.
- Senior Level: Certified Senior Management Consulting Engineer
- The Certified Senior Management Consulting Engineer is a manager with advanced skills in the use of management consulting tools and techniques, and can lead management consulting projects and consulting teams.
- Master Level: Certified Master Management Consulting Architect

Skills and Competencies
The skills and competencies listed below are required for all levels of certification, unless specified otherwise. The skills and competencies needed for the certification in Management Consulting include:
Professional Level:
- Gather project data using data collection tools. Data collection tools include brainstorming, sampling, checklists, check sheets, surveys, interviews, documentation reviews, and on-site observations.
- Measure work productivity using work measurement techniques. Work measurement techniques include time studies and operational auditing (OA). OA techniques include good operator, standard time, historical records, technical estimate, and directed requirement.
- Assemble and use work analysis tools. Work analysis tools include tree diagrams, process flow charts and activity, workload, personnel, performance value, and payment analysis charts.
- Create and interpret work process maps. Work process maps include stakeholder maps, value chain maps, high level process models, basic flowcharts, cross-functional flowcharts, and bottleneck maps.
- Prepare and use data analysis tools. Data analysis tools include histograms, scatter, layout, and flow diagrams, and bar, Pareto, trend, pie, and control charts.
- Assemble and interpret the results from problem analysis tools. Problem analysis tools include cause and effect diagrams and force field analysis charts.
- Prepare and use decision making tools. Decision making tools include the nominal group technique and selection matrixes.
- Interpret the results from implementing management consulting tools and techniques.
- Develop project plans for management consulting projects.
- Recommend and implement corrective actions resulting from management consulting projects.
Senior Level:
- All competencies at the Professional Level above.
- Research, analyze, and solve complex management consulting problems.
- Analyze and develop modifications to management consulting project plans.

Phase 1 Eligibility Requirements
To determine your eligibility to apply for certification in Management Consulting your experience and education must meet the minimum requirements below.
Specific Eligibility Requirements:
- Professional Level
- Must meet one of the following requirements:
- Five (5) years of experience
OR - Four (4) years of experience plus associate degree OR technical/career certificate or diploma
OR - Three (3) years of experience plus bachelor's degree
- 25% of required experience must be within the last 5 years
- Senior Level
- Must meet one of the following requirements:
- Eight (8) years of experience
OR - Seven (7) years of experience plus associate degree OR technical/career certificate or diploma
OR - Six (6) years of experience plus bachelor's degree
- 25% of required experience must be within the last 5 years
- Must have 2 years of project lead or supervisory experience
- Master Level
- Must meet one of the following requirements:
- Twelve (12) years of experience
OR - Eleven (11) years of experience plus associate degree OR technical/career certificate or diploma
OR - Ten (10) years of experience plus bachelor's degree
OR - Nine (9) years of experience plus master's degree
- 25% of required experience must be within the last 10 years
- Must have 2 years of project lead or supervisory experience
- Must have 2 years of managerial experience

The following are specific experience and education requirements:
- Experience:
- Experience must be relevant and verifiable.
- The experience requirement must come from US-based companies.
- If you are an independent contractor or consultant that perform project work and not fully employed, you can submit individual industry projects. The project work must equate to the amount of required work experience.
- Education: (college degree, technical/career certificate or diploma)
- Must be in a relevant field.
- The education requirement must come from U.S. based institutions.
- At this time we do not accept international applicants. We do not have international offices or staff.
Relevant Fields for Education Requirement
Your college degree or technical/career certificate or diploma must be in one of the following fields or similar fields.
- Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management
- Other Engineering disciplines and Manufacturing (must include one or more courses that includes some of the topics related to the skills and competencies for this certification)
- Project Management, Business Management and Administration (must include one or more courses that includes some of the topics related to the skills and competencies for this certification)
Phase 2 Competency Requirements
Once your eligibility has been determined in phase 1, the next step is to verify your work experience and education and complete a Competency-Based "hands on" Assessment in your certification field, Management Consulting. You are given a specific mini project to accomplish and submit for peer evaluation.

- Feedback Provided and Recommendation Decision
- You will be provided feedback for your Competency-Based Assessment submission.
- The Competency-Based Assessment submission will either be accepted or not accepted.
- If it is accepted, you will have earned your certification!
- If it is not accepted, you will be able to re-work and re-submit your Competency-Based Assessment (one time) after the recommendation decision.
Competency-Based Assessment Brief Overview
Given the profile for a fictitious company and the requirements for an operational improvement consulting project, using required skills and competencies the certification applicant will design and develop the project plan to manage the consulting project for the company. The project plan will include the selection and design of the management consulting tools and techniques to accomplish the project.
At the senior and master certification levels, the above tasks are required in addition to applying advanced level skills.
Requirements to Pass the Competency-Based Assessment
- Complete and submit the Competency-Based Assessment.
- Meet or exceed all of the requirements provided for the Competency-Based Assessment project.
- The submitted project work must demonstrate the appropriate level of skills and competencies for the certification.
- The submitted project work must be professional and demonstrate industry quality standards.
Certification

After you have successfully completed both phases, you will be awarded your certification in Management Consulting! You will receive your certification certificate by mail and documented on your Professional Career Portfolio.
